Recruiting is an absolute art you MUST master to be successful in the mlm industry. In fact, recruiting in network marketing is argued to be ONE of the most important factors to creating success in our industry.
Of course, you need to be able to generate leads, teach people to duplicate, build organizations…and all this other stuff.
But if you don’t know how to recruit, then it’s going to be darn tough to move ahead quicker. The true MASTER mlm recruiters and leaders are the ones who know how to put people in by the dozens.

There is no magic formula or secret that enables you to generate a ton of leads and having them turn into distributors or customers. What there is however, are simple steps that ANYONE can use that will produce the exact same results if utilized.
How do you generate leads that allows you to capture their name, email address and phone number? The answer is again simple. You use what is called attraction marketing that gets people who are laser targeted in your market to find you and are compelled to give you any of their private information as you please.
They can either get to know you through your YouTube videos, your Facebook profile, your Twitter updates and any other social networking medium. Also, when leads opt-in to your sales funnel, they will see you all over the place on video. Not only that, but your email auto-responder campaign is also designed to continue the relationship building process. By the time you pick up the phone, most of your leads are already very familiar with who you are!
So when you do recruiting, you want to come from a place of total detachment. This means that you have no attachment to a certain outcome that you expect within your communications. There’s nothing worse than a ‘needy’ recruiter on the other end of the line and this mindset will show in your voice and can cost you the call.
Here are the steps I recommend you take to make things as simple and as natural as they can be:
Step One: Initiate The Conversation
Once you’ve got your mindset and beliefs all in order, it’s time to actually pick up the phone and start calling people on your list. If you’re a newbie, your list won’t be overwhelming at this point so getting through all of the prospects that have opted in within the last 24 hours shouldn’t take very long. To initiate the conversation, say who you are and pause to see if the prospect knows who you are. If not then simply remind them that they opted into your email list and perhaps give them your web address in order to jog their memory and once that’s done, you’re ready to get the ball rolling.
Step Two: Be The ‘Hero’
Always offer to help them first. The whole engine of network marketing recruiting is based upon helping people first and offering your opportunity later. If you start off by saying how great you and your product are, then you’ve lost the power of attraction marketing and you end being just a pushy salesman in their eyes. Do the opposite and this physiologically tells them that you’re on their side and therefore they are more receptive to your offer later.
Step Three: Start Building Their Trust
Next comes the trust building. If there is no trust from the get go then it’s challenging at best to create a sustainable business and the way to build trust is to get to know your prospects. Your leads are not just some number that opted into your list. They are real people with real backgrounds, desire and dreams. Tend to them first and ask quality questions that will allow them to talk and reveal more about where they’re coming from. Just remember, this is not about you!
The conversation is always about your leads… their goals and their needs. This is a business that you’re running and servant leadership is pivotal in network marketing recruiting. Within that conversation, it might pay to find something you have in common. There’s usually always something you can relate to in a conversation, so make sure you do that. The shared interests will almost instantly strengthen the bond between you thus creating a more empowering exchange of information.
Step Four: Become The ONLY Solution
Now you come to the point of knowing why your prospect is looking for a home business or network marketing opportunity so it’s now time to link YOU up as being the solution to the problems or issues that they are currently facing in their lives. For example, if they work in a corporate job that’s sucking away at the time they spend with their family, you need to inform them that having their own home business will increase the time that they will have with their family especially within your organization. The prospect will soon realize how relative your product or business opportunity is to their lives as a result.
Step Five: Answer Their Questions
Try to answer as many questions that they have with regards to your business. Don’t leave any stone unturned here but don’t act Einstein either. If you don’t know the answer, let them know that and tell them that you’ll get back to them with the answer or even better, have a three way telephone call with one of your organization’s leaders so that they can fill in the gaps there and then.
Step Six: Closing The Sale And Following Up
Now this is where most people cannot recruit for the life of them. More often than not, most people don’t go for the close in the first conversation. ALWAYS try to close the prospect because at this point they are highly motivated and interested in what your company can do for their particular situation. It a matter of saying to them that they seem to be what you are looking for in your team, that you want to help them achieve their goals using this vehicle and most importantly, ask them when they would like to get started.
This will encourage them to think objectively about their situation and the information that they now know. Some people may need to talk to their partner or loved one and that’s perfectly fine too because again, it’s not about you! Once you ask for the sale, just wait for the prospect’s response. If there is nothing else they need then you can ask them for their information and have them sign up there and then. If they need time to think about it then let them know that it’s perfectly fine and a few days later you can follow up with them. Another important thing to note here is that the fortune is in the follow up.
And that’s about it! If you follow this guide, you will become a master at closing leads very quickly. Just remember, newbie mlm recruiting over the phone is not about soliciting. We are just here to guide and facilitate people in making the decision for themselves.
